Portocarro is synonymous with José da Mota Capitão, the wine producer.

Pepe's goal is to produce high quality products, inspiring wines, for those who

appreciate authenticity.

The wines have an intense aroma and complex personality: they are tense and earthy, but also elegant and fresh. These are fundamental characteristics for the production of Portocarro, being the result of specific choices in the establishment of the vineyards and the winery.

The vineyard plots are located in unique terroirs - they were selected taking into account exposure to the sun and wind, orientation of the plots, altitude and soil composition, being surrounded by native plants and, of course, chosen for their potential to produce superior quality wine.

Pepe was nominated for producer of the year in 2015 and won the title of “Producer of the Year in 2016” by the most renowned Portuguese wine magazine “Wine Essência do Vinho”.
